Everyone deserves the opportunity to ride a bike!

AMBUCS is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. The Long Island Chapter of AMBUCS is focused on the AmTryke® Project which entails the fitting, fundraising, and donating of AmTryke® therapeutic tricycles to individuals with disabilities. As the only chapter on Long Island, we provide bikes to children, adolescents, and adults across both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The AmTryke® Project enables individuals with disabilities to safely ride bikes, improving quality of life and promoting independence through exercise. This is achieved through various adaptations to the AmTryke including frame size, frame positioning, seat selection, headrests, lateral support, foot cups, handgrip placement and pedal size. Every effort is made to ensure a perfect individual fit.

AMBUCS partners with local businesses and providers to host Bike Days throughout the year where individuals can be evaluated and fitted for their bike!

We need your help!

Although the AmTryke® Project provides various benefits for individuals with disabilities, insurance companies deny all claims made for adapted tricycles since they are considered “recreational” and not medically necessary. With your help, the Long Island Chapter of AMBUCS can give each individual the opportunity to have their own bike. Click the link below to make a donation.

100% of all proceeds goes directly towards the Amtryke Project! Even a small amount helps.

All donations are tax deductible
